Sunrise is one of the best Korean meals I've had in K-town. It's a small location with only a few tight seats. It's not the most beautiful spot, but you can tell it's small and homey.
The banchans were all delicious and fresh. They have a great variety for sweet to salty, super spicy or mild.
We got the seafood pancake which was out of this world. So delicious I could eat that as a whole meal and be satisfied.
I had the soybean stew with seafood and it was delicious, with lots of seafood bits inside. They definitely don't skimp.
My friend had the Bulgogi dinner and really enjoyed it. It was a huge portion, enough for him to take home and have for lunch the next day.
The only thing with this place is that there is only one server and endless amount of guests. You can't expect the best kind of service in these types of places, it's almost a given. My friends meal got lost in translation so we had to wait a while for it. The chef (whom we presume is umma) hand delivered it to our table which was very sweet. All in all, it was worth the wait.
It's a cozy place to come grab a quick bite or have a relaxed evening with your friends. We will definitely continue to come back here. -

This place is a 10 minute walk from Christie subway station. Its small so you may walk right past it and not know it. But can you afford to miss this little gem. It was my first time eating Korean food and boy did i pick the right place. The spicy bulgogi on the hot plate is a must eat. You are served the sweet and spicy beef strips on a hot plate along with steamed rice, kimchi, noodles, seaweed and miso soup. Helpful advice: dont make the same mistake i made by going alone, take someone with you so that you may finish the food. The owner or manager is attentive and polite as well.Only negative is that they take only cash.

Koreatown is full of many wonderful Korean eats and Sunrise House is no exception! After scrolling through pages of potential Korean restaurants on Yelp, it was the pile of sprouts on the pork bone soup in the photos that really drew me in. Just before 6, I was able to quickly snag a seat, but moments later, the small restaurant quickly filled up with a long line.
Of courses, I got to look forward to the various Korean side dishes that come, and I was not disappointed by any! The japchae noodles, which are my favourite, were prepared perfectly, and as was the kimchi and potatoes to name a few.
I may be biased, cause sprouts are one of my favourite part of Korean cuisine, but I the pile on the pork bone soup was MASSIVE! Such that they give you a separate bowl so you can transfer your mountain of sprouts and cabbage and actually access the pork bone soup. The sprout mountain on top is super good since it has absorbed so much of the spicy soup. And of course, the pork bone itself didn't disappoint. I thought the meat was really tender and the soup base had the right amount of spice and flavour; note, however, that it was a tad on the spicy side so be wary if this is a concern.
First impressions were that the portion was massive; for $12 I don't think I've had as good quality or as large portion sizes. I definitely think Sunrise House takes a very simple and classic dish and truly elevates it with their own take, rivalling all the nearby establishments. FYI, they only take cash so be prepared. While storefront and interior are a little overwhelming, and despite all the various Korean restaurants to choose from, Sunrise should not be underestimated for its great food and service! -

Four stars for the Pork Bone Stew(#47)$12, but only three stars for the Dolsot Hot Stone Bulgogi Bibimbap(#59)$16. I think because the turnover over is so great, the care in service and food prep isn't at the level for the increased prices (they have not updated their website, the old price for pork bone soup is only $7 and the Dolsot Bibimbap is only $9). SUPER disappointed with the Dolsot Hot Stone Bulgogi Bibimbap, we were looking forward to the crispy rice on the bottom of the Dolsot, instead it was just a hot stone bowl with rice and bulgogi and vegetables scooped into it. The bulgogi was nothing special. As for the Banchan, the majority of the sides were sweet--sweet daikon, sweet seaweed, sweet chapchae, sweet potato, only the napa cabbage kimchi and bean sprouts weren't on the sweet side. CASH ONLY

This might actually be my new favourite Korean place on Bathurst. Their side dishes are good. They have the sweet potato that everyone likes. I think they have about 7 side dishes. That's plenty. I got the udon in spicy seafood soup (jjamppong) and one of the best I've ever had. Friend got the pork bone soup and she loved it. This place is pricier than the other Korean restaurants on Bathurst. Pork bone soup is usually $7-9 but this place was a little more. I think $11. But it's worth it. Will definitely go back.
